Marriage is not an exemption to protect children from sexual offences: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on Thursday said that to protect children from sexual offences, marriage is not an exemption under the law, even though section 375 of the Indian Penal Code (which defines the offence of rape), cites that intercourse or sexual act by a man with his wife not below 15 years, is not rape.
