Well, according to the new study published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, one needs to spend a lot of time in the field shedding sweat to lose weight. For a person to lose about 1 pound that is approximately 1/2 kilos per week, they need to burn 3000 calories, which requires an abundant amount of exercise. As per the study, to burn this much calories one needs to exercise for about 300 minutes every week or an hour per week for five days.

The study was carried out on a group of 44 adults between 18 to 49 years. The participants were divided into three groups- one who exercised six days per week, the other who exercised two weeks per day and those who did not exercise at all. The participants were allowed to choose whatever exercise they wanted to do- running, weight lifting or simply walking. In the end, it was found that people belonging from the first group burnt more calories and shed more kilos.
