Masala bond issue of Rs 20,000-25,000 crore soon? To tap FPIs, govt plans bond sale at GIFT City

The Indian government is considering issuing masala bonds worth Rs 20,000-25,000 crore to tap into the interest of Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPI) and raise funds at a lower interest rate. Masala bonds are offshore sovereign bonds denominated in Indian rupees.
