Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Anya Singh, Medha Rana, Anya Singh, Bhushan Kumar, Nidhi Dutta, Anurag Singh and others attended the success press meet of their film Border 2 at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. It was one of the best events of the year as the actors gave headline-worthy quotes, raised laughs and also touched the hearts of the press as they shared their emotional experiences. Varun Dhawan was massively trolled before the film’s release and all the trolling stopped once it came to light that the actor had delivered one of the best performances of his career. The actor opened up about it for the first time.
Varun Dhawan said, “Everyone gets trolled. It has become a fashion. Some people can take it in their stride, while some can’t. Luckily, I could take it in its stride and I didn’t take it seriously. Also, my family supported me.”
He added, “I also want to share something since we are public figures. When we were shooting the Battle of Basantar sequence in Babina, my father (David Dhawan) had a health scare. He got admitted to the ICU. Anurag Singh and Binoy Gandhi knew about it. I immediately took a flight to Mumbai and met my father.”
He added, “My father asked me, ‘Teri shooting chal rahi hai; how can you come back?’. I said, ‘Kya bol rahe ho aap? I won’t go anywhere’. He replied, ‘We make films to entertain people. Producer ka bahut paisa lagta hai. You need to return to the set first thing in the morning tomorrow and make it for your call time’.”
Varun ended his answer by saying, “So, I am trying to say that this is what was happening with me in my life. Jab woh hota hai aapke saath, toh yeh trolling kya cheez hai (smiles)?”
Varun also hinted that he plans to use the trolling material in his next film, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Incidentally, it is directed by David Dhawan. Varun said, “Trolling doesn’t make a difference. That tedha face wala smile is something that I only did in Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017). Yeh log mera hi homework copy kar rahe hai. Hence, if it’s helping you, toh kar lo copy! It didn’t make a difference. Also, it was a serious character that I was playing in Border 2. So, I didn’t say anything. But my next is a comedy film and I promise I’ll use it in it. Kyun jaane du main (laughs)?”
