Turns out, the L-sit is widely considered as one of the toughest abs exercises and it is also effective in flattening your belly. The L-sit is an isometric exercise, which strengthens your body even if you’re not moving. This exercise targets a variety of muscles throughout your body like your abs, arms, hamstrings, quadriceps, triceps and hip flexors.
How to do it:
Step 1: Sit on the floor with your palms by your sides. Now stretch your legs out in front of you. They should be straight and close to each other.
Step 2: Squeeze your thighs together and try to lift your body using your hands. You can lean your torso slightly forward to maintain the balance.
Step 3: Hold this position for 10 seconds, followed by resting period of 30 seconds. Repeat this 3-4 times.
How can you make it harder?
You can also try variations of L-sit to challenge your body. Here are two ways to make it even harder.
1. Gymnastic rings L-sit: You can try doing this workout using gymnastic rings. It is good for your arms, shoulders, and core is even more effective as your muscles have to work harder to hold the position.
2. Hanging Knee Raise: In this exercise, you have to hang from a bar rather than lifting yourself from the floor.
The bottom line
If you find it difficult to do this workout then do not try too hard. You can injure yourself in the pursuit of a slimmer waistline. Practice it daily to perfect it.
