Gangu bai aka Saloni Daini lost 22 kilos

Saloni Daini has been making people laugh with her comedy since she was a child. The actress is better known by the name of her comic character, Gangu Bai.

In an exclusive interview with The Time of India, she opened up about the ridicule and harsh comments she has received from the audience for her body weight.

In the interview, Saloni said that growing up in the limelight is tough and she has seen the worst of it. The actress is now 19 years old and has lost around 22 kilos during the lockdown, which is an inspiration for many.

The actress said that earlier she received comments like, ‘Bhains lag rahi hai’, ‘kitni moti hai’, ‘kitna khayegi, ekdin foot jayegi’ and more. She read all these comments and laughed them away but sometimes all this made her feel low as well.

But she knew only working towards her goal and not thinking about such people is what will help her. The actress put all the hard work and utilised the lockdown to transform herself. She has set an example and motivated other people who are facing weight issues.

Talking about her journey, Saloni said, “When I was in 1st standard, I wasn’t supposed to work and do comedy. But suddenly, Chhote Miyan came up at that moment. It was very surprising and I realised that this is the thing that I love. This has been the best part in my life and I can never leave it.”

She said being famous at a young age made her conscious about her image on social media. “I am that person, who thinks a lot before posting anything. I keep thinking if I look good from this angle or that angle. I also receive a lot of hate comments, comments on my weight, but now I want to change that and not think much while posting on social media,”.
