02/7What was your turning point?

Delivering a baby and post-pregnancy weight loss proved to be difficult as I never really had any time for myself. I gave birth in November 2019 and then, my weight crossed 75-kilo mark, my highest ever. I was really concerned. I felt tired and unhealthy. I love wearing fancy clothes and at that time, none of my clothes fit me. I was forced to move towards XL or XXL just so that I could ‘hide’ my flab. I knew I couldn’t keep doing this for long and undertook a challenge and took care of my diet and exercise. The diet I followed is mentioned below:

03/7“I begin my day with a glass of warm lemon water”

My breakfast: 1 Cup Daliya + 1 Pomegranate at 9:30 am

My lunch: 2 chapatis + a bowl of vegetable subzi + a bowl of daal at 12:30 pm

My snacks:Handful of nuts around 4:30 pm. (2 walnuts+ 3 almonds+ 5 pistas+ 2 kharik+ 2 anjeer)

My dinner: 100 ml milk with turmeric at 8 pm.

No specific pre/post-workout meal as such.

04/7Workout and fitness secrets

I started by going for a 3 km walk in the mornings, followed by 30-45 minutes of cycling (7.5-9 km) and fat-burning yoga for 12 minutes daily. This way, I was able to lose around 4-5 kilos every month, i.e. 1.25 kilos per week.

Fitness Secret unveiled:

Eating homecooked food in the right proportion is the only key to be healthy and lose weight holistically. And yes, don’t forget to eat your leafy greens. Minimize consumption of junk food. Instead, try and prepare delicacies at home only. You’ll soon start to see the temptations and urges going away once you cook for yourself.

Fitness-wise, I would suggest everyone invest in a good weighing scale-track your weight loss every morning after waking up, which really worked for me. Also, schedule nap times, but avoid sleeping right after your meals. All these measures will help track down fat loss during the course of your journey…

05/7What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?

Having clothes fit you well is something all girls desire. After following a good and proper diet, workout routine, my body felt lighter, I was happier and soon, all my clothes started to fit me! This is all that keeps me motivated to keep working on my self and the goals. Once you start to feel healthy and happy, no one or distraction can stop you.

Post-pregnancy weight loss is difficult, everybody is different and it takes time. But people around you start to mock and make unwelcome comments- “you can’t do this, you won’t be able to lose weight”. All this happened to me too and made me feel demotivated at times. I am glad I could prove them wrong!

Furthermore, you start to develop various health issues! Nobody wants to be unfit and facing so many problems.

06/7What shape do you see yourself 10 years from now?

I will continue to maintain my weight loss as I have seen the bad consequences of being overweight. My goal is to have a good BMI according to my age and vitals.

What was the lowest point for you?

As I love to wear new, trendy clothes, not finding clothes my size was difficult. Looking at my old clothes made me feel sad.

07/7Lessons learnt from weight loss

Listening to your body is very important. If you listen to your body and work accordingly, it will help you grow mentally, physically and emotionally. I feel so confident about myself now and I am very much energetic and relaxed now. This is the thing everyone wanted and yes this makes me happy.

It’s very important to listen to your body. If you pay attention, know what your body wants and work accordingly, it will help you realize your goals, grow mentally, physically and emotionally. After my weight loss, I feel much more confident about myself, energized and relaxed. It makes me super happy to have lost weight.
