The turning point: Being overweight invited a lot of problems in my life. There were problems in my family life. However, it was an advisory from a random passerby who changed my life. A gentleman advised me that I must lose weight otherwise, I will not be able to survive past the age of 41. It motivated me and ever since I haven’t looked back till now.

My breakfast: I like to have two chana chapatis with a glass of buttermilk. It is so filling and nutritious.

My lunch: For lunch, I have a serving of dal, green veggies with two chana chapatis again.

My dinner: Usually, I eat something like poha, upma or cheela.

Pre-workout meal: Black coffee is the best drink to grab before an intense workout session.

Post-workout meal: Something like seasonal fruits or a handful of nuts and seeds do the trick for me.

My workout: I do not go to the gym or rely on a trainer. All this weight loss has been a result of jogging and cardio exercises.

Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Anything homemade has got to be helpful. Chana chapatis are very healthy and do not make you feel guilty.

Fitness secrets I unveiled: Maintaining an active lifestyle is definitely important. However, it is dietary choices than make a greater impact. I am a vegetarian and ever since I transformed, I gave up smoking and drinking.

How do I stay motivated? I try to keep up with my goals by looking at all the clothes I want to buy and wear one day.

How do you ensure you don’t lose focus? You need to have three qualities in abundance-Endurance, never say never attitude and will power.

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight? There was a time when I used to weigh a lot. I was not leading a healthy lifestyle. Even walking up a short distance made me feel breathless.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? I want to remain the same size for a lifetime. That is the only goal I have in mind right now.

What are the lifestyle changes you made? There were a lot many changes I welcomed in my life. I became a teetotaler, left smoking and gave up junk food. I always have my dinner before 8 pm now.

What was the lowest point for you? Nobody likes to hear comments from passersby. The very thought that my excessive weight could probably lead to an early death was horrifying.

Lessons learnt from weight loss: Once you lose weight, there is no looking back. A transformation also brings around a lot of positivity and new changes into your life. Now that I have come into this shape, people respect and admire me now.
