We always thought those lemlem tunics hanging from the racks at J.Crew would make great pillows. Thankfully, Liya Kebede, the model, activist, actress and mother behind the line, agrees. Kebede, who started lemlem five years ago after a trip to her native Ethiopia, has turned those colorful wovens into rugs, blankets and pillow cases for the first time this spring. Though her tops and dresses, most of which make ideal beach cover-ups, come with neon accents, her home goods are a bit more subdued. The forest green and faded blue stripes will mix easily into even non-beach house decor.
The collection starts at $125 for a small striped pillow and goes up to $325 for a handwoven, mismatched, cotton blanket. Everything’s available online, starting today.
