There was a time before the pandemic hit our country when we used to sulk over every Monday for some or the other reasons. But now that the majority of us are working from home, we got people to vote if Monday Blues still feel the same during the lockdown or no. Not-so-surprisingly, around 75% of people said that they still struggle through every new Monday and the rest 25% didn’t think Mondays were that bad for them.
Now, you must be wondering why are Monday blues still the same or even worse when all of us are in the comforts of our home. To explain the same, some mental health experts explained the lockdown Monday struggle.
Here are a few reasons why Mondays are difficult for many even during the lockdown:
– Your brain misses the old Monday routine and struggles to adapt: You must agree to the fact that everyone’s schedule has gone out of the window due to working from home. The lack of structure is what then contributes to higher anxiety levels.
– You’re in a demotivation loop: People are very used to their weekly routines and now their brains have to work less hard. This can also lead to a slump, which basically means it’s a struggle for many to wake up and get going every Monday.
– Your brain is going through a grief cycle: One reason why you might be feeling this way is that you’re in a state of mourning for your pre-coronavirus lives. Your changing emotions only go to reflect on the fact that you are going through a grief cycle. The grief cycle includes – grief, shock, anger, denial, depression, finding meaning and acceptance.
– You’re worrying about finances: This has been quite a tough time for many, professionally as well. Some of you don’t know what the coming week holds in store for you. Especially with freelancers, they are always on a lookout for work to come in. Your minds can be flooded with money worries in this lockdown. It’s natural for your mind to start thinking about financial uncertainty. Your brains are hardwired to care for your survival. This can cause anxiety and struggles throughout the week that starts with Monday.
