Brooklyn photographer Bon Duke was inspired by the skater film Lords of Dogtown when he created this short video for Nowness, featuring Prabal Gurung’s Fall 2012 collection. Gurung and Duke came together as part of a project in which designers from the CFDA Fashion Incubator and shutterbugs from the School of Visual Arts team up. Their task: Make a short that re-invents a movie’s opening credits.

The scene is set at the underpass of the Williamsburg Bridge, where model Erjona Ala—clad in a grungy-glam sweatshirt and pleated skirt—is surrounded by a gang of dirty-hot skater guys. “I wanted to take the lifestyle in Dogtown but add a twist to it,” Duke explains. “I wanted to show her control over them and appropriating their image. As it cuts to them hanging out and arm-wrestling it was another way she was in control.” Check out the film after the cut.
