Q. India recently held Asian champions Qatar to a goalless draw. What has been the mood in the camp since?
I think the disappointment of not getting the job done against Oman played a big role in the way we went about the game against Qatar. To hold your own for 90 minutes against an attack like that is special.
Q. What’s the most important quality that coach Igor timac has instilled in the team since taking charge?
The belief that he instils allows everyone-especially youngsters-to express themselves better. We’re passing the ball out from the back and not panicking even when we’re being pressed. All this comes from the coach. He is passionate and has players pushing and pulling in the same direction.
Q. What’s a realistic target to have from these World Cup qualifiers?
We have played two games. In one, we showed that we could have come away with three points. In the other, we stole a point where we weren’t meant to get anything. You can never tell how this will pan out. We need to do everything in our capacity to make it through to the next stage.
Q. What do you tell the boys who are fighting for the same position as you?
