Tsunami-hit Japan struggles to reach survivors; hundreds dead

Japan tsunami 2011 – Rescuers struggled to reach survivors Saturday morning as Japan reeled after an earthquake and tsunami struck in deadly tandem. An 8.9 magnitude earthquake, the strongest ever recorded in Japan, triggered a devastating tsunami that sent walls of water washing over coastal cities. Tsunami warnings and high waves reached to the West Coast of the United States.
