02/7Small onions

As weird as it sounds, a hotel owner has found small onions as a cure to coronavirus. He is also offering Uthappam stuffed with small onions to his customers. His reason behind this weird claim is that small onions improves immunity and provides resistance for such flu-based diseases.

03/7Honeysuckle and flowering plants

A Chinese scientist has claimed that a liquid made with traditional ingredients could help cure the deadly coronavirus. The main ingredients used to make this liquid are honeysuckle and flowering plants. The claim has led to impulsive buying of these ingredients from various pharmacies in China. People rushed to pharmacies after a state media outlet Xinhua, reported that the esteemed Chinese Academy of Sciences had found that the concoction “can inhibit” the virus.

04/7Cow urine

Another unusual treatment to combat the novel coronavirus came from Swami Chakrapani Maharaj, president of Hindu Mahasabha. He said that a person who drinks cow urine would be saved from the deadly disease. He also recommended chanting ‘Om Namah Shivay’ and rubbing cow dung on the body to keep the virus at bay. Swami Chakrapani Maharaj also declared that a special yagna will be performed to “kill the novel coronavirus and end its effects on the world”.

05/7Chanting

Dalai Lama, the famous spiritual leader of Tibet, has advised his devotees to chant the Tara mantra to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus. The advice came from the spiritual leader after a group of devotees from China sought his advice on how to contain the spread.

06/7Garlic

Another home remedy which is doing rounds on social media is garlic cloves in boiled water. Though there is no evidence of its effectiveness, but a lot of people are trying the remedy for the sake of it. Even the WHO (World Health Organization) has published in one of its articles, that there is no evidence that eating garlic will cure coronavirus.

07/7Herbal medicines

The only measure that could be close comes from Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa and Homoeopathy). The ministry suggested people to drink 10 grams of Shadang Paniya (Musta, Parpat, Usheer, Chandan,Udeechya & Nagar) powder in half litre of boiled water to stay safe from coronavirus. The ministry also suggested taking Arsenicum album-30, as a preventive medicine, on an empty stomach for three days.

The ministry also stressed upon the fact that the above are only preventive measures and not a treatment advice.

As the deadly coronavirus has spread across more than 109 countries, it is recommended to take personal preventive measures on your own and not believe in myths and rumors. Wash your hands as frequently as possible and rush to see a doctor if you feel the symptoms
