02/8What was your turning point?

I have been a big foodie, ever since I started my professional journey. I was addicted to having fizzy drinks and junk food, lying on the bed all day. I just grew fatter and did no exercise. Never knew it would cost me so badly in the future.

I experienced the worst day of my life in October 2017. I was overweight and had to be rushed to the hospital. After initial investigations, it was observed that I had a high and abnormal heart rate and symptoms of a hypertensive stroke. Only then did I realize the side-effects of the lifestyle I was leading, being so weak, unhealthy and having a poor diet.

The doctors also told me that I was super overweight for my age. So, the transformation began!

03/8Diet followed for weight loss

My breakfast: I generally finish my breakfast before 8 am on most days, which is usually something like cereals, dry muesli with curd or cold milk.

My lunch: My lunchtime is between 1-1:30 pm when I have whatever is cooked at home, such as rice with vegetables.

My dinner: I tend to keep my dinners light. 2-3 chapatis with vegetables. I also reduced my salt intake in my diet.

Pre-workout meal: Nothing

Post-workout meal: Cinnamon green tea and sattu (gram flour) had with hot water and organic honey.

I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): While I try to eat healthy on most days, I indulge by having some fried snacks like samosa or cheese momos sometimes.

Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Healthy salad made out of cucumber, sprouts, tomato, fresh cottage cheese (dressing made out olive oil, lemon juice and a dash of black salt)

How do you ensure you don’t lose focus? The sole objective I have in mind is to follow a medicine-free life. I am still young, I don’t want to be a victim of diseases like BP, diabetes and take any medications for the same.

08/8Lessons learnt from weight loss

In today’s world, we are very focussed on our jobs and responsibilities that we don’t even think about our health and like me, everyone has the same reason that they don’t get time for exercise or any physical activities. But guys, hold on for some time and think seriously that in 24 hours a day can’t we even manage to invest 30 minutes for keeping ourselves healthy??? Yes, we can.

Now that I have lost 21 kilos, I can definitely vouch for the fact that I feel more confident and youthful about myself. I have also gained a lot of energy, freedom and flexibility to do things.

Another important thing I have learnt is that if a person has good health in his hand, he or she can achieve anything. True health is true wealth.
