BP CEO Looney resigns over past relationships with colleagues

Bernard Looney, the CEO of BP Plc, has tendered his immediate resignation as a result of his failure to disclose prior relationships with colleagues. Temporarily stepping into his role will be the company’s CFO, Murray Auchincloss. Looney, known for championing a more rapid transition to low-carbon energy, acknowledged that he had not been completely forthcoming in his previous disclosures.
