Coal will still be India’s leading power source for electricity generation in 2030, and there will be a requirement for additional new plants along with renewables, despite adding record-clean energy installations to hit climate targets, according to the country’s Power Ministry’s Central Electricity Authority. Coal will account for 54% of electricity generation by 2030, with 46GW of extra capacity needed alongside renewables, report said.
