On Friday, the Indian government extended the lower import duty for palm, soybean, and sunflower oils until March 31, 2025, in an effort to ensure their availability and control retail prices. Additionally, the import duty exemption for masur dal (lentils) was extended by one more year, also until March 31, 2025. The initial lower import duty structure on crude palm oil, crude sunflower oil, and crude soy oil was set to expire in March 2024. These measures are aimed at managing the prices and supply of essential food commodities in the country.
