Global Injustice: Only 0.3% of climate finance reaches small-scale farmers

Small-scale family farmers received only 0.3% of international climate finance in 2021, revealing a critical gap in support for global food production. Discussions at COP28 aim to finalize a Global Goal for Adaptation, urging financial support for food and agriculture. The agri-food sector received $8.4 billion in international climate finance, with climate-vulnerable and food-insecure countries receiving minimal funding. Shockingly, only 2% of international climate finance went to small-scale family farmers, despite their estimated financial needs reaching $170 billion annually.
