OneWeb India, a subsidiary of Eutelsat Group and backed by Bharti Group, has received authorizations from the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) to launch commercial satellite broadband services in India. However, the company cannot launch its services until it receives spectrum allocation from the government. OneWeb India already holds necessary licenses and approvals to establish gateways in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. The approval from IN-SPACe is valid for five years. India aims to increase its share in the global commercial space market from 2% to $40 billion by 2040.
