Knicks sign ex-Nugget Smith, release Balkman

Shooting guard J.R. Smith tweeted Friday that he has decided to join Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and phenom Jeremy Lin as a New York Knick, a move the team announced later Friday night.
